Crews responded to a report of a chimney fire on highway 33 North. Crews from Station 1 and Station 2 responded and were on scene for about 1 hour in temperatures near -20 degrees. Damage was contained to the chimney without extension. |

C.A.F.D. Rescue 1 and Medic units 9, 11, and 12 responded to Highway 33 for a two vehicle MVA on Saturday morning. Four people were injured, including two critically.
Extrication operations were required to remove one Pt. who was later airlifted to a Duluth Trauma Center. |

Fire crews responded to USG for report of a fire in the dryer area. Upon arrival crews found fire in the exhaust fans and shroud area. The fire was quickly knocked down before it extended into the roof area. Crews were on scene for 2 hrs. |

January 17th, 2009 @ 1803 hrs, Station 1 fire crews responded to a report of a fire at door 17 on Sappi Fine Paper Mill. Upon arrival, crews found wood debris on fire inside and below a conveyer belt. Making things worse, the fire was located below ground at the base of a tunnel. Crews extinguished the blaze quickly and were on scene for 1 hr for overhaul. |

Firefighters check their nozzle pattern as they prepare to make entry into a basement fire with moderate flames showing as Captain Schroeder (foreground) completes his walkaround. Extreme cold with air temperatures in the teens below zero made this firefighting effort more difficult.
The fire was quickly extinguished and had caused about $65000 in damage to the home. The fire is currently under investigation.
