Structure Fire in Downtown Cloquet

Battalion 3, Engine Company 2, Engine Company 22, Tower 1 and Division Chief of Safety responded to a report of a structure fire in station 1's district Saturday afternoon on March 6, 2010.  Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing from the roof and eaves of a single story residential structure.  The fire was contained to the kitchen/dining room hallway area.  Crews were on scene for 1 1/2 hrs.  The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and the cause is believed to be accidental in nature.

CAFD units respond to a report of a chimney fire.

On 02/15/2010 at 1830 hrs CAFD units responded to a report of a chimney fire with the residence filling with smoke. Upon arrival crews found fire burning in the chimney with a haze through out the structure.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the chimney and limit damage to surrounding structure. The structure was ventilated and fire extinguished. Crews were on scene for approximately one and one half hours.

 
CAFD Assists Carlton Ambulance at MVA

CAFD Rescue 1 and Medic 11 responded to a request for assistance from the Carlton Fire Department on 02/18/10  for a motor vehicle accident.  The accident, involving a passenger car and semi truck, occured on Hwy 210 at the Hohensee Road intersection.  Rescue 1 extricated the driver of the car who was pinned in the vehicle.  The Driver was treated by CAFD Paramedics and transported by Medic 11 to the Cloquet Memorial Hospital.  CAFD crews were on scene for approximatley one hour.

Accident Damages Garage

Truck impacts garageOn Tuesday January 26, 2010 CAFD Rescue 1 and Medic 12 responded to a single vehicle accident at 209 Selmser Avenue. 

The accident resulted in severe damage to a garage on the property.  CAFD Rescue crews shored up the garage to provide structural stability during the operation.

 
Cloquet Structure Fire

On the evening of 1/3/10, Eng. Co. 2 and 22 responded to a report of a structure fire located at 409 2nd st.  The fire was contained to the attic space and caused moderate damage & minor smoke damage throughout the residence.  Crews were on-scene for 1 hr with the temp at around 25 below zero.

On 1-1-10, Battalion 1, Eng. Co 2 and Eng. Co. 22 responded to a report of a structure fire with a trapped occupant.  Upon arrival, crews found smoldering fire inside a exterior wall.  Law Enforcement and the homeowner knocked fire down prior to arrival.  The fire was ignited by the homeowner trying to melt ice from front steps utilizing a propane heater.  Crews were on scene for 1 hr.
