District Fire Crews were kept busy Sunday evening with seperate fires. The first occurred on the Ditchbank road where 12-15 different wildfires were reported between the 1st and 2nd bridge. District crews worked alongside MN DNR, FDL Forestry and the BIA to supress all fires while keeping damage to a minimum. Battalion 3, Squad 6, Brush 21 and Eng. Co. 22 all responded.
While crews were clearing those fires, a report of an outbuilding fire off of the Moorehead Road sent Eng. Co. 2 Battalion 3, Tanker 22 and Medic 12 to the scene. Upon arrival Eng. Co. 2 reported smoke showing from a 14x16 outbuilding and discovered the fire to be contained to a sauna which was inside the structure. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and were on scene for about an hour for overhaul procedures. Cause of the fire has been classified as accidental. |
